A Secretaria de Pol\u00edticas Digitais da Secretaria de Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o Social da Presid\u00eancia da Rep\u00fablica (Secom PR) e o Minist\u00e9rio das Rela\u00e7\u00f5es Exteriores (MRE) realizaram, na manh\u00e3 desta sexta-feira (18), no Pal\u00e1cio Itamaraty, reuni\u00e3o com representa\u00e7\u00f5es diplom\u00e1ticas sediadas em Bras\u00edlia, na qual foram apresentados os desenvolvimentos recentes e pr\u00f3ximos passos da\u00a0Iniciativa Global para a Integridade da Informa\u00e7\u00e3o sobre Mudan\u00e7a do Clima<\/b>. O encontro, em que tamb\u00e9m esteve representado o Minist\u00e9rio do Meio Ambiente e Mudan\u00e7a do Clima (MMA), contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de representantes de\u00a0mais de 40 pa\u00edses<\/b>, incluindo os que j\u00e1 s\u00e3o parte da Iniciativa. \u00a0<\/p>\n

O embaixador Laudemar Gon\u00e7alves de Aguiar Neto, secret\u00e1rio de Promo\u00e7\u00e3o Comercial, Ci\u00eancia, Tecnologia, Inova\u00e7\u00e3o e Cultura do MRE abriu e conduziu a reuni\u00e3o, destacando a import\u00e2ncia da a\u00e7\u00e3o multilateral para garantir a integridade da informa\u00e7\u00e3o como pilar essencial da governan\u00e7a clim\u00e1tica global.<\/p>\n

Em seguida, o secret\u00e1rio de Pol\u00edticas Digitais da Secom PR, Jo\u00e3o Brant, apresentou os desenvolvimentos recentes da Iniciativa, com destaque para o lan\u00e7amento do\u00a0Chamado \u00e0 A\u00e7\u00e3o pela Integridade da Informa\u00e7\u00e3o sobre Mudan\u00e7a do Clima rumo \u00e0 COP30<\/b>, que convida governos, organiza\u00e7\u00f5es internacionais, setor privado e sociedade civil a contribu\u00edrem com solu\u00e7\u00f5es pr\u00e1ticas e inovadoras. Brant tamb\u00e9m discorreu sobre o Cap\u00edtulo Brasileiro da Iniciativa e a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o do Brasil ao Fundo Global gerido pela Unesco.<\/p>\n

Tamb\u00e9m fizeram uso da palavra o presidente da COP30, embaixador Andr\u00e9 Corr\u00eaa do Lago, e a diretora-executiva da COP30, Ana Toni. Ambos refor\u00e7aram o alinhamento estrat\u00e9gico da Iniciativa com os preparativos da Confer\u00eancia das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas sobre Mudan\u00e7a do Clima, que ser\u00e1 realizada em Bel\u00e9m do Par\u00e1, em novembro deste ano. Destacaram, nesse sentido, o pioneirismo do Brasil ao inserir a quest\u00e3o da desinforma\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica na agenda de a\u00e7\u00e3o da Confer\u00eancia.<\/p>\n

O painel tamb\u00e9m contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o online do diretor da Divis\u00e3o de Pol\u00edticas de Inclus\u00e3o Digital e Transforma\u00e7\u00e3o Digital da Unesco, Guilherme Canela, que apresentou os avan\u00e7os do Fundo Global da Unesco voltado ao financiamento de projetos de pesquisa, campanhas de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o e apoio ao jornalismo investigativo sobre o clima.<\/p>\n

Por fim, a consultora s\u00eanior em Integridade da Informa\u00e7\u00e3o do Departamento de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o P\u00fablica das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas, Charlotte Scaddan, participou virtualmente com uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o sobre eventos recentes relacionados ao clima e as expectativas para a pr\u00f3xima Assembleia Geral da ONU.<\/p>\n

A reuni\u00e3o evidenciou o crescente reconhecimento internacional da Iniciativa como uma resposta multilateral coordenada ao desafio da desinforma\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica. O di\u00e1logo franco e propositivo entre autoridades brasileiras, organismos internacionais e representa\u00e7\u00f5es diplom\u00e1ticas dever\u00e1 contribuir significativamente para ampliar o engajamento na Iniciativa e fortalecer a mobiliza\u00e7\u00e3o internacional rumo \u00e0 COP30.<\/p>\n

Na ocasi\u00e3o, a representante do Uruguai anunciou ades\u00e3o \u00e0 Iniciativa, tornando-se o oitavo pa\u00eds participante, junto com Brasil, Chile, Dinamarca, Fran\u00e7a, Marrocos, Reino Unido e Su\u00e9cia.<\/p>\n

The Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Secretariat for Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom PR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) held a meeting on the morning of Friday, July 18, at the Itamaraty Palace, with diplomatic representatives based in Bras\u00edlia. The event presented recent developments and next steps of the\u00a0Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change<\/b>. The meeting, in which the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA) was also represented, brought together representatives from over 40 countries, including those already participating in the Initiative.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Laudemar Gon\u00e7alves de Aguiar Neto, Secretary for Trade Promotion, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opened and moderated the session, emphasizing the importance of multilateral action to uphold information integrity as a key pillar of global climate governance.<\/p>\n

Next, Jo\u00e3o Brant, Secretary for Digital Policies at Secom PR, presented the latest developments of the Initiative, highlighting the launch of the\u00a0“Call to Action for Information Integrity on Climate Change in the lead up to COP-30”,<\/b>\u00a0which invites governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society to contribute with practical and innovative solutions. Brant also outlined the work of the Brazilian Chapter of the Initiative and Brazil\u2019s contribution to the Global Fund managed by UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Remarks were also delivered by Ambassador Andr\u00e9 Corr\u00eaa do Lago, President of COP30, and Ana Toni, COP30 Executive Director. Both reaffirmed the strategic alignment of the Initiative with the preparations for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in Bel\u00e9m, Par\u00e1, in November 2025. They highlighted Brazil\u2019s pioneering role in introducing the issue of climate misinformation into the COP\u2019s action agenda.<\/p>\n

The panel also featured a virtual contribution by Guilherme Canela, Director of UNESCO’s Division for Digital Inclusion and Policies and Digital Transformation, who presented updates on the UNESCO Global Fund, which supports research projects, public communication campaigns, and investigative journalism focused on climate change.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Scaddan, Senior Adviser on Information Integrity at the United Nations\u2019 Department of Global Communications, also participated remotely, providing an overview of recent climate-related developments and expectations for the upcoming UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n

The meeting demonstrated the growing international recognition of the Initiative as a coordinated multilateral response to the challenge of climate misinformation. The open and constructive dialogue among Brazilian authorities, international organizations, and diplomatic missions is expected to significantly contribute to increased engagement with the Initiative and to strengthened global mobilization ahead of COP30.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the representative of Uruguay announced the country\u2019s formal accession to the Initiative, becoming the eighth participating nation, alongside Brazil, Chile, Denmark, France, Morocco, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
